Answers to the questions we hear most about bowling equipment, orders, and our pro shop.
A good starting point is a ball that's about 10% of your body weight, up to the 16-pound maximum. It should feel heavy enough to carry through the pins but light enough that your swing stays smooth and relaxed. If you're between two weights, go with the lighter one. Our pro shop can help you dial in the right fit in person.
Plastic (polyester) balls roll straight and are great for spares and beginners. Urethane balls give a smooth, controllable hook that many league bowlers like, especially on drier lanes. Reactive resin balls create the most friction and the biggest hook potential for attacking the pocket with more angle. The best choice depends on your style, your skill level, and the lane conditions you play on.
Wipe the ball down with a microfiber towel every few frames to lift lane oil off the surface, and give it a deeper clean with a proper ball cleaner after each session. Reactive balls absorb oil over time and lose reaction, so an occasional resurface helps restore performance. Never leave your ball in a hot car, as extreme heat can damage the coverstock.
Our pro shop handles ball fitting and measuring, custom drilling, plugging and re-drilling, and surface adjustments tuned to your game and local lane conditions. If you're not sure what your equipment needs, bring it in and we'll take a look.
